Review: Tory Burch Caroline Flats

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I've been raving about my new flats. I bought these Tory Burch Caroline flats as my first investment piece and I don't feel an ounce of buyer's regret. I'm so glad I bought these, and look forward to wearing them for years to come! Read about my investment-piece-decision-process here, if you haven't already. :)

I just wanted to share a quick review and some detailed pics of the flats, just in case you're interested!

Tory Burch "Caroline" Flats, sz 8

These are THE most comfortable flats I've ever worn. I own over twenty pairs of flats, and nothing compares to these!
Pros:
-All leather (upper, sole, and insole)
-Soft and comfy
-Elastic band around the top, which allows for some stretch
-Classic Tory Burch logo isn't too big or flashy
-Versatile color goes with anything
-Can be dressed up or down

Cons:
-Price... An expensive pair of flats, but you really do get what you pay for.
-Needs one day to break-in, which could be uncomfortable at first
-Not much of an issue, but it is more like a ballerina flat than a structured one.

And as for how they wear...
I wore these for the first time yesterday at work, where I walk around all day. I found that it did need a break-in period like any shoe, but it's not terribly uncomfortable. Since these shoes come "rounded" like in the third picture (and like any other ballerina flat), it takes some walking to flatten the shoe to suit your feet. My feet were a bit sore after a ten-hour day, but it was not too bad at all. Today, I wore them again and had no problems. There is absolutely no rubbing at the heel or slipping anywhere within the shoe. The elastic band really does allow for some stretch, so it makes them super comfy, and the leather is so buttery and soft. These shoes are heavenly and well-made, from what I can see.

At first I was hesitant to pay so much for a pair of flats, but it is so worth the money. These shoes also come in black patent, but the nude color goes with absolutely everything, making these a keeper for years and years!

An outfit post with these shoes will be up within the next two days. Please share your favorite investment pieces! I'd love to know. :)

  2. I have been dreaming about these Tory Burch flats for months. They are absolutely gorgeous but I'm surprised to read quite a few reviews about time to break in these. Do you have to size up or just your regular size?

Just found your blog. You have an awesome blog here. Following you :)

  3. The reviews will say to size down by half a size, but these fit perfectly true-to-size. I'm a true size 8 and bought these in size 8, and they fit great! Super comfy. :)

  5. Thanks for sharing the great review of your new Caroline flats. I've been a long time Reva fan but the break in period can be painful. I read quite a few reviews about how comfy the Carolines are right away. I think they just got added onto my "want list" of Tory Burch flats. Here's my Reva collection http://www.flickr.com/photos/39715038@N00/6808072797/in/photostream (might have to cut and paste the Flickr photo link)

  6. How was the sizing? TTS or do they run small/large?

    Thanks!

  7. hi, I was wondering if these flats (the elastic trim in particular) got dirty easily. Also, do they stretch out much or pretty much stay the same. I'm between a 7 and 7.5 (usually a 7) but can't make up my mind on the fit. thanks!

    1. I've had my Carolines for almost 6 months now, and with repeated wear (every other day) the elastic has gotten a little dingy. However, I take an old toothbrush and scrub the elastic with a mild soap and warm water. Then I just wipe it clean with a damp cloth! It takes out most of the dingy-ness.

As for sizing, they run very true to size and hardly stretch with wear (but they're comfy right out of the box). I'd recommend buying the size you feel most comfortable wearing with flats :)

      Good luck, and enjoy! :)

  8. Megan: Thanks for your reply on how to clean. I wore these every other day for months and they started to get dirty.
    Glad I found your post.

  9. Have you had problems with the bottom wearing down and getting holes in the bottom? I have had mine for about 6 months now and each one has a hole in the bottom....

  10. Yeah, you are correct that these days, online shopping has become one of the most well accepted and popular medium to purchase and sell tory burch shoes.
