After seeing "peter pan" collars everywhere earlier this season, I'm happy to have found out about removable collars-- collars with a little clasp that you can wear with anything!

As trends come and go, I find this a convenient way to switch things up a bit without committing to a dress or blouse that could "go out of style" in a few seasons. Lately, I've been reevaluating my clothing purchases and I've decided that investing in very classic and timeless pieces (with the occasional trendy purchase) makes me happier with my wardrobe in the long run.

Dress: Forever 21 (Scuba material is AMAZING quality; Similar)
Belt: Target
Collar: H&M; Recent (Similar, but $$$)
Shoes: Tory Burch Caroline flats (Buy or Rent)
Bag: Tory Burch East to West (Very similar; Worn here)
What are some classic pieces you're investing in?
Gorgeous collar! I love the idea of a removable one. I've been buying up shift dresses lately, which would go so well with a removable collar! Great look. I definitely agree with your idea of investing in the classics.

This looks SO cute on you! I'd like to get a detachable collar as well. Good way to try something new and switch up your "plain" sweaters and shirts. But for me, my timeless "investment" of the season is my J. Crew majesty peacoat!

Ohhh Sarah, I'm loving your peacoat!! I still need to invest in a good coat. :(
DeleteLove this outfit and what I love is that the collar is removable. Great way to change things up a bit. I completely agree on spending your money on classic pieces then wasting it all on trendy ones. I'm looking at investing in more classic purses. Like Michael Kors Hamilton bag. IT may cost more, but it's so classic looking, that I will have it forever.

Investing in purses is a great idea! My Tory Burch bag is my only designer bag and I've been using it every single day! It's totally worth it if you get the classic styles. :) Loving that MK Hamilton bag-- It's so chic!
DeleteI love love love this outfit! You look great. And what a great idea to get those necklaces for when it does go out of style. Smart girl!

What a great choice to pair the collar with that cute dress! I woulda never known it was scuba material! And from F21 awesome!! PS I recently invested in silk blouse and am currently hunting for leather cross body
ReplyDeleteA silk blouse is a great investment! A leather cross body is a good idea too. You may have to pay a little bit more for a really nice one, but it'll be worth it if you stick to the classics! :)
DeleteMegan, this look is the bee's knees! Seriously so gorgeous. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Peter Pan Collar. It makes the outfit look more special. I can imagine that it would look lovely paired with an ivory sheer blouse and little black dress!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea, Carol! I've only worn it with this dress and a cardigan so far. I'm so excited to wear it with more pieces!
DeleteI adore that collar. I agree that removable collars are the way to go. I can't believe the dress is from Forever 21! It looks very well made and incredibly flattering. This is the perfect outfit for a lady!

So adorable!! You kind of remind me of Zooey Deschanel! I love her! The collar is amazing & really is the fashion statement of your outfit without going overboard! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :) I never thought of the Zooey look... You're so right though! :) haha!
DeleteCan't believe you found that dress at F21...I love it!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe the quality of this dress! And for only about $22. Sometimes you can really find a keeper at F21 if you get lucky!
DeleteMegan, I've been MIA recently and haven't seen these recent posts, but you have been nailing your outfits! That collar is absolutely adorable - I saw it at H&M a couple weeks ago and may just have to run back and snag it!
ReplyDeleteMy heart just started going pitter patter! I love this look. Heading to F21 to see if I can find something similar. I have a collar but haven't figured how to Fall-ify it yet!
