Fresh Sugar lip treatment review (Sephora Beauty Insider birthday gift)

If you've shopped at Sephora, you have either heard of their Beauty Insider program or are already a Beauty Insider. One of the perks of being a Sephora Beauty Insider is a free gift on your birthday, and this year's was the Fresh Sugar lip treatment mini duo! Here are some photos and a quick review on these high quality lip balms. My birthday is tomorrow, so I was able to get my gift almost first thing this year! :)

The set comes with two mini sized Sugar lip treatments: the original and the rose tinted balm.

The box isn't super big. It fits right in the palm of my hand.

Sephora bday 005
Here it is compared to a regular sized lip balm. It isn't too bad for a sample size!

Now for the review: I absolutely LOVE these lip balms. The consistency is almost like that of Vaseline-- Non sticky and moisturizing. They smell just like sweet lemon candy when you apply them, which I love. I haven't noticed a flavor or certain taste to them, which is what I prefer. I like to use the original before bedtime and before I apply lip color in the morning, and keep the tinted balm in my purse to use throughout the day. As for the tinted balm, the color is so perfectly sheer that it's easy to apply without a mirror and can be worn during the day. There are other colors available on Sephora as well, and I'm sure they're just as awesome as the rose balm. I'm considering buying the full size when I run out, but I'm not sure if the steep price is worth it. What do you all think?

Get the full size balm here.

To be eligible for the birthday gift, make sure you are signed up for Sephora's Beauty Insider program (which is free) and list your birthday. You should get a postcard in the mail a little over two weeks before your birthday, as well as a reminder email! Birthday gifts change every year! :)

Has anyone else tried this balm? Did you like it?
I hope you all have an amazing week!

Disclaimer: I received this set as part of the routine yearly birthday gift from the Sephora Beauty Insider program. I was not compensated to do this review, and I have stated my honest, personal opinion on the product.

Keep or Return: Delia's Bow dress + new puffer vest

I had been eyeing this dress on the Delia's website for a few months now, and finally decided to order it when I got my hands on a decent promo code. The style is definitely something out of the ordinary from my love of classic sheath dresses, but I for some reason, I loved it! Here's the model pictures first:

Now here it is in real life!

Delia's One Shoulder Bow dress, size small

Definitely not what it looks like on the model. What do you all think? Should I return or try to make it work? I only plan to wear this dress for parties and fancier occasions!

I also got this new puffer vest from Delia's as well, which doesn't compare to my original American Eagle one from my previous post. Please excuse the clashing outfit! :)

See it compared to my American Eagle puffer vest in size small. There is a huge size difference.

The Delia's vest is definitely bigger and boxier, while the AE vest is more shapely. I will still keep it though, because I think the bigger size will allow me to layer it comfortably over jackets and thicker sweaters, which is something I can't do with my AE vest.

Should I keep or return the dress?

Enjoy the rest of the week, everyone! :)

Classy Weekend: Puffer Vest

One of my favorite pieces to wear when the weather is in-between Winter and Spring is a puffer vest! So far I only have this one from American Eagle, but a new burgundy one is on the way. I don't think anything emanates "preppy" as much as a pair of riding boots and classic, casual pieces.
These pictures were taken in a new location when I was doing a photo shoot for a couple of my friends. Pics from that will be up soon!

What I wanted to emphasize are these boots... I bought these at Target in 2010, and never wore them until now. I always felt that they were too "rugged" for my taste, but now I really like the riding boot style! The only downside I have with boots these days is the shaft height. These come up right under my knees while standing and rub up against the back of my knees when I sit down.
Also, has anyone seen Steve Madden boots that look just like this? I swear that I've seen these boots and other Target shoes in Steve Madden form, as well. I really think Target gets their shoe-inspiration from Steve Madden and other designers, which is great!

I hope you all have a wonderful week and enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

Review: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Has anyone noticed that these things are all the rage lately? I've seen numerous reviews and advertisements for them! I had to try them out for myself, so I picked up three different colors; Strawberry shortcake, candy apple, and peach parfait! Apparently they are very popular, because the display was practically empty at Target when I went to buy them.
These Revlon Colorburst lip butters are kind of like a mix between a lipstick and a lip balm (but you probably already guessed that). I would describe them as "a very pigmented chapstick." See the photos and continue down for more...

They look just like regular lipsticks with the case and the twist up design. There's also a little "window" at the top so you can see the color in the tube.

Here they are on my lips. My least favorite is the Strawberry shortcake, because they color just doesn't sit right on my lips. My favorite is the Peach parfait, because I love the natural, coral-y color for everyday. The candy apple is also my favorite... It's a sheer, flattering red.

I'm definitely not a lipstick kind of person because I don't like dramatic colors on my lips, plus the dryness you tend to get when wearing them. These feel just like wearing lip balm, but with lots and lots of semi-sheer color! I definitely recommend these for everyday wear. There are a TON of color options available as well. I know I'll be back for a couple more shades...

Has anyone else fallen into the lip butter craze? What shades did you get?

Weekly recap...weekly wants!

I've been MIA for more than a few days, and I don't like that! This past week has just been so unusually busy and tiring. I'm so glad it's the weekend! I unfortunately don't have any outfit pics from the week, because I just didn't wear anything interesting and blog-worthy. It was a long, rough week with school and work. I also haven't shopped lately either, which is out of the ordinary! That will change soon though. ;)

Here are some Instagrams from this past week. If you follow me on Twitter, you would have seen most of these already! But for those who don't, here they are!

And once again for casual Friday. So preppy!!

And, like I said... my break from shopping will soon be over! I received my catalogs from Alloy, Delias, and Lands' End, and I can't resist. Here are some snapshots of the recent Alloy catalog and the outfits I loved the most.

I love the nautical striped dress... I can see it being paired with lots of red or yellow. Hmm...
The outfit with the khaki skirt caught my eye as well. I love the flouncy skirt/blazer combo. I will definitely get the skirt and pair it with a navy blazer!

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend, and here's to hoping that next week is better than the last! :)

Gingham Galore!

My much anticipated J. Crew boys gingham shirt has arrived, and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed. The fit and quality is more than I expected!

Shirt: J. Crew Crewcuts boys Secret Wash shirt in gingham, size 14. (Similar here at J. Crew)(Get 30% off + free ship with code WINTER)

This is a boy's size 14. The sleeve length is absolutely perfect on me, as well as the full length, which is just right for tucking in and not having to worry about it.

The only disadvantage I can think of is the awkward feeling when buttoning it up. Being a boy's shirt, it buttons on the opposite side. This will take some getting used to, but it's a small issue. I usually dislike wearing button ups because they're always too tight in the shoulders for me, or too short. This shirt is the most comfortable I've ever worn! It doesn't have the same "fitted" seaming and shape as a women's shirt, but I don't think anyone can tell.
I wore it today under an H&M cable sweater and with a Target chambray skirt and tights.

Verdict: I will definitely consider buying Crewcuts boy's shirts again. This one will be a Spring/Summer favorite!

Have you guys jumped on the gingham trend as well? I love it! See boy's gingham on Jean from Extra Petite and Kelly from Alterations Needed!

Classy Weekend: Jumping on the gingham trend

Gingham is everywhere these days! So many bloggers are showing off their casual and work styles using this preppy print. The weather lately has been absolutely delightful for January, so what better opportunity to start breaking out the spring wardrobe? My new gingham shirt from J. Crew hasn't arrived yet, but I found this one in my closet that's a tad bit too small for me. But I'm desperate to wear some gingham! :-)

Shirt: Hollister Co, sz XS (way too small)
Cardigan: Merona for Target, sz S (a little too big)
Jeans: Gap Real Straight jeans, sz 26A
Shoes: Vans "lo-pro", sz 8 in navy/true white
Watch: Fossil "Stella"

I desperately need a new red cardigan for spring time! This one from Target just doesn't wear well for some reason. Pictures don't lie, and this outfit doesn't look as put together in the photos as it did in the mirror, and this is because of the ill-fitting shirt and cardigan.

I'm not normally a sneaker person, but lightweight Vans are my go-to "sneakers". So classic!

A review will be up next week after I get my J. Crew boy's gingham shirt in the mail.
I hope you all have a wonderful week and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Petite Fashion Challenge #12: Night to day

It's that time again! :) I love Petite Fashion challenges because it helps me be a little more creative with my outfits. This month's PFC is hosted by Khatu of I am khatu.

Here's the challenge: "Restyle a glamorous look that you would typically wear for a night-out-on-the-town into daytime casual wear. Easy right? Bonus points if you can restyle it for work!"

Let me start by saying that this challenge had me realize that I hardly go out at night to get the chance to dress up! So creating these looks took quite a bit of thought. Also, when dressing up for going out/fancy occasions, I try to keep my outfits very ladylike and sophisticated, just because it's out of the ordinary for "going out" outfits. (In Arizona... hardly anyone knows how to dress compared to the East Coast!). So let's begin!

First we start off the the "night on the town" outfit, which includes two of my favorite pieces...
PFC #12 011
pfc_collage
I couldn't make up my mind with the shoes. I think the red pumps are more appropriate for a fun holiday party, while the nude pumps would work for a more sophisticated occasion. I'm not very good at putting together going-out outfits, but I would definitely wear this to a party or a get together with friends. And of course, for the cooler months I'd add some tights and maybe layer a cardigan.

And to switch it up for day time...
PFC #12 007
PFC #12 006
Essentially, all I did was keep the sequin skirt and tuck in a sheer tee! I love how casual this outfit is. Even for a sequin skirt, it seems surprisingly subtle and just right for day time. Bare legs and sandals have me daydreaming about spring time already! :)

Night:
Blouse: Gap (old)
Skirt: J. Crew factory (old now!)
Red pumps: Gianni Binni (old)
Nude Pumps: Steve Madden Ulltra in blush

Day:
Skirt: J. Crew factory
Top: Hollister Co. (so old)
Sandals: Gap (old)
Pearls: Taken from my grandma's jewelry box

I hope this post will suffice! :) I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else has come up with for this PFC!

Classy Weekend: More nautical stripes for me!

The weather is surprisingly mild here in Arizona. It almost feels like spring time already! It makes me sad, because I hardly got to wear my true winter clothes. But... warmer weather calls for preppy, nautical stripes, which most of you already know that I am obsessed with. It was still a bit cool enough for a scarf and jacket, which tied the outfit together perfectly.

Shirt: J. Crew (old)
Jacket: Mark., sz S (Recent, if you order from Avon, check the recent catalog)(similar here)
Jeans: Gap Real Straight Jeans, sz 2 ankle
Scarf: Target
Belt: American Eagle Outfitters (old)
Moccasins: American Eagle Outfitters (old)

I'm never usually into military style anything, unless it's sailor-ish. (of course :-]) But I found this jacket in a recent Avon catalog and bought it on sale, figuring I'd give it a try. It's the perfect casual, light jacket for the upcoming season!
This outfit is so easy to recreate, as similar pieces can probably be found anywhere.

As a side note, I am now very active on Twitter, so please follow me if you are interested (@LongLiveClassy). I tend to post pics you won't see on this blog and will keep you updated with new posts! Twitter is also the best way to contact me directly. Hope to see you on there!

I hope you all are having a great year so far! I'm looking forward to seeing all the Petite Fashion Challenge posts on Thursday! :)

And lastly, I just ordered this J. Crew boys secret wash gingham shirt in purple (25% off + Free Ship with code SHOPNOW). I've been seeing so many bloggers wearing gingham and chambray these days! I love the preppiness of gingham. See it on Jean from ExtraPetite and Kelly from Alterations Needed. I didn't think to try boys sizing for such shirts, but the fit looks great on them! I'm hoping I get the same effect. Next up to order: Chambray!

Enjoy the rest of your week and I wish you all a wonderful, blessed 2012!
