PFC #13: Stylish for Under $100

It's time for another Petite Fashion Challenge, and this one is so exciting. Annie of Really Petite is the host for this challenge! Thanks for hosting, Miss Annie. :)

This month's challenge is Stylish for Under $100: Put together a professional outfit (excluding shoes and accessories) for under $100. Bonus points if the completed outfit includes shoes and accessories for under $100 total.

So... here's my entry!! I have been so so so busy lately so these photos were taken hastily and without a background. And just in case you were wondering, that is my "fashion inspiration board" on the wall behind me. :)







I am totally in the mood for nautical stripes and spring/summer time, so I figured I'd put together a more summery professional outfit. :)

Here's the list with prices for my outfit:
Blazer: American Eagle Outfitters; bought on sale for $30
Skirt: Merona for Target (recent!); $23
Shirt: H&M (recent!!); $17
Shoes: Ann Taylor Perfect Patent Pumps (navy blue); bought on sale for $36
Bag: Merona for Target (recent!); $25

Outfit total for just clothes: $70
Outfit total with shoes and bag: $131

I just barely went over $100 dollars for the whole outfit, including shoes and bags!
I can't wait to see what everyone else has in store for their PFC outfits... I'm looking forward to it!

DIY: Trendy to Classic

Have you ever stumbled upon a great piece only to find that there are little details that seem to ruin it? I often turn great pieces away because of the little things, but I've since learned that if the issue is minor, some DIY alterations can make it what I want!


This Target dress caught my eye on the rack, and looks amazingly spring-and-summery from the front... and I especially love sun dresses with this silhouette.


But take a look at the back:


For some people, this wouldn't be an issue. But with my picky, classic taste, this completely turns me off from the dress. I've never been one to add "edge" to my outfits, and I feel that's what these straps in the back are for.

But... after some DIY alterations (compliments of my mom!), we're back to the classics!

I absolutely love the new scoop-back to the this dress now. It looks so much more fresh and girly! An added bonus is that this dress is now somewhat unique. Now I just have to wait for the weather to warm up...

Classy weekend: Quick OOTD

It seems as if I only have time to do about one or two posts a week these days! My life has never been so busy and hectic... It's crazy. But I wanted to just do a quick OOTD for you all! Just a quick snapshot of one of my favorite cool-weather outfits. :)



Sweater: Mossimo for Target (old?)
Jeans: Gap Real Straight jeans, size 26a
Belt: Target (Recent, check your local stores!)


It's nothing special, but it's one of my favorite "put-together-yet-casual" outfits for the season. If you're looking for a great pair of jeans, definitely try the Gap Real Straight jeans. I probably wear these every weekend now because I love them so much. The fit and the wash are classic and tailored. Definitely the best pair I've ever worn!

This coming week should calm down a bit, so hopefully I'll be able to post a few more times (I bought some new spring clothes at Target!) and catch up on other blogs.

Review: Clarisonic Mia skincare!

I've never been one to obsess over beauty products and skincare. (That has changed a bit though.) I usually used the same decent-quality products and makeup looks daily, and hardly even put a thought into skincare. Especially with the lack of skincare, my face was a mess with breakouts and extreme combination skin. I'd heard about the Clarisonic Mia as one of Sephora's raved about products, and decided to give it a try after quite a lot of positive reviews. (LENGTHY POST AHEAD!)

My Jason Wu for Target fail...

Was anyone lucky enough to snag exactly what you wanted during the Jason Wu for Target frenzy? I was pretty excited for the collection to come out, and even planned on waiting until midnight on Sunday to shop the collection online... but, of course, I completely forgot about it and fell asleep beforehand. I woke up around 8:30am on Sunday and rushed to the computer to see what was left of the collection. And of course, everything I wanted was sold out! What's even more unfortunate is that my local Target doesn't stock the designer collaborations. Sigh. Better luck next time!

Here are some of my favorites from the collection. If anyone happens to have one of these pieces laying around or are considering a return, please shoot me an email or a tweet! I would need them in size 2 or X-small. :)

I've learned my lesson to not take Target's designer collaborations too lightly anymore... haha. :)

Look for less: Pippa's red flats

How long has it been since I posted? A long time! Life has been so busy and hectic with work and school that there just isn't enough time for anything fun these days! I hope it changes when this college term is over.

On the brighter side... two things: (1) Pippa and Kate Middleton are probably at the top of my list of style icons, and (2) a pair of red flats has been on my want list for months now! So seeing this page in the People StyleWatch February issue had me swooning.




What didn't have me swooning... was the price! Pippa is wearing London Sole's which are around $170... Out of my price range. And the magazine suggests a similar pair for a more reasonable $42, but even that is a little too much for a pair of flats that don't match with absolutely anything...
BUT! I had a DSW gift card from Christmas time, so I had to take advantage of that. I found an even cheaper pair at DSW, and these look so much better to me.

It's not an exact replica of Pippa's flats, but I think I love them more, especially with the contrast stitching. They look very classic. As for sizing, I haven't worn them out just yet, but they seem to fit true to size. I'm happy!

Also... is anyone else excited for the Jason Wu for Target release tomorrow? I've never been excited about the designer brands at Target until now, because there is just one piece that I must have from this collection! My store here doesn't carry the special designer lines, so I have to cross my fingers and hope it's not crazy on the Target website tomorrow.
