July's Featured Blogger: Sarah's Real Life

This month features Sarah from the lovely daily style blog Sarah's Real Life! I recently discovered her blog after she reached out to me for this feature... and I have been a follower ever since! I love her everyday style! ~Megan

SRLphoto1

First, a big thanks to Megan for featuring me this month. If you aren't a follower of hers yet, you should be. She's adorable and always delivers high-quality content.

Now, a little about me and my blog, Sarah's Real Life. Not surprisingly, my name is Sarah. I'm 27 (almost), I live in Indianapolis, and I'm a law student (one year down, two to go). Clothes have always kind of been my thing - along with dancing and being smart - and after following various personal style blogs for a while, I decided to start my own just a couple months ago.

My goal was to keep the blog a 100% true documentation of my daily life - with a focus on what I'm wearing, of course. Every outfit you see is something I actually wore, whether it was to work, to the movies, or to a friend's wedding. Unlike some bloggers, I don't make up outfits for the sake of a blog post. If you peruse my posts, you'll see everything from suits to sundresses! I don't label myself as any certain style because my tastes are always changing.

SRLphoto2

I also don't label myself as a "budget fashionista" per se, although as a student I am obviously on a budget! Sarah's Real Life is not so much about shopping as it is about styling: experimenting with trends, mixing them with pieces already in my wardrobe, and trying to dress creatively every day, no matter what I'm doing.

And one more thing: In real life, I have a dry and sarcastic sense of humor, so it's only natural for me to let them come through in my blog :). I hope you'll all stop by Sarah's Real Life for a good laugh (hopefully at what I'm saying and not at what I'm wearing), and maybe some style inspiration.

~Sarah

P.S. You can find me on Bloglovin', Pinterest, and Twitter!

If you're a style blogger and would like to be featured, please see this post for more information!

Polka Dots and a Mani Monday

Last Monday, Murphy's Law struck once more and I was without internet for a night. Of course, I had procrastinated and didn't schedule a Mani Monday post, instead planning to upload and post Monday night. That didn't happen, and I couldn't find a good day to make up for it. So this week, I'm bringing you last week's manicure and a lovely polka dot dress. :)

I am loving what I call my "Chanel knock-off bag" for it's edgy-elegance. This is the closest I'll get to having an actual Chanel quilted bag for quite a while!

I've been having great luck with Forever 21 lately. I'm usually left disappointed by their quality and fit, but I've been scoring some great finds recently! This dress is just under $20 and comes in three colors! (See my fave peplum dress from F21 here).

Last week, I went for a classic fuchsia pink with a shimmery accent nail. Both colors are from Zoya's Summer 2012 collection-- Kimber (Shimmer) and Lara (Opaque). This week, I'm giving my nails a break for a few days, for I fear the dreaded yellowing of the nails has begun! If anyone has a way to remedy this, please share! :)

Happy Monday everyone, and have a great week!

Disclaimer: The Zoya nail polishes were provided to me from Zoya and People Style Watch for review.

Shopping Sunday: Week of Jul 29 - Aug 4

I believe we're in the period of time where all the new Fall collections are debuting... but the Summer sales haven't begun just yet. I'd give it a couple more weeks before all the big end-of-summer sales start! (It will be bittersweet.)

Shopping Sunday

Sephora is having their Summer sale! Items go fast, so stock up now!

Men's and Women's woven shirts are 30-40% off at J. Crew Factory (which is open 24/7 now!)

Get 25% off Gap (Today only!), Old Navy (Till tomorrow!), and Banana Republic (Till the 31st!)!

Forever 21 is still running their Buy One, Get One Free promo!

Yet another sale at Lands' End Canvas. Stock up on all your preppy essentials with up to 65% off, like the oxford shirts I so dearly love!

There isn't much to offer this week, so hopefully next is better! Now, let's start the week off right! :)

Coral and Turquoise Revisited

Remember this outfit? And remember how I said a white sheath dress was on my wishlist? Well, my wish came true!

After seeing this lovely dress on Jean of Extra Petite, I HAD to have it. It was just what I was looking for. The only issue was that its a Banana Republic Factory dress... and there is only one Banana Republic Factory store in Arizona, almost 4 hours away!

Luckily, Jean had provided the style number and BR Factory stores do ship out to homes for a small fee. I called around a few different states and finally found my size in stock at a store in Las Vegas. I ended up getting this dress for about $38 shipped, which is pretty good considering this was an originally $100 dress!

Dress: Banana Republic Factory, sz 0 (#234795)
Cardigan: Merona for Target, sz XS
Belt: Target
Shoes: Lands End (similar)
Necklace: J. Crew Replica via eBay
Bag: Borrowed LV Speedy

I must say, there is a thrill that comes with searching for a certain piece of clothing all over the country. This is the second time I've gone searching for an item (I tracked down another piece seen on Jean a while back), and successfully snagged it!

BTW! This dress is so bad when it comes to wrinkles. Just sitting down will leave creases all over it. It's totally worth it for this lovely dress though. :)

Petite Fashion Challenge #18: Date Night

I am loving this month's Petite Fashion Challenge, hosted by Easy Petite Looks!

This month's challenge: "For the taken ladies, we still need to dress up for date night (at least once in a while!!). Generally, I think we wear what makes us feel good, regardless of what other people think. But what is your secret for making your outfit a little more memorable?? Have fun with this one!"

I've always loved putting together date night outfits, especially because you get to let your flirty side shine a bit. :) The outfit I put together is a little over-the-top, but would totally work for a fancier date night. Nick and I got a little creative with this one, but that's part of the PFC fun, right? :)

Dress: Forever 21, sz S (AMAZING quality!)
Shoes: Gianni Bini (old)
Bag: June's MyGlam Bag
Necklace: Bauble Bar (Invite link here)
Bracelets: Borrowed from grandma

I love wearing LBD's and dressing them up! How can you go wrong with flirty peplum for date night? And can you believe I bought this dress at Forever 21? I can't either.

Many of us gravitate towards pairing red with black, which is fine, but sometimes we use too much of it. Instead of being matchy-matchy with red accessories, I let my jewelry do the talking. Along with the red, I went with gold accents and a hint of pearl elegance. I also went with flirty lashes, wavy hair, and a red lipstick. Remember, less is more!
Oh, and don't forget the snazzy car and a hot date. ;)

I had so much fun with this challenge and look forward to many more! You can see the full list of participants on the Easy Petite Looks blog!

Oh, Hello Louis!

I've never been a big fan of Louis Vuitton, simply because I've just never had a thing for handbags with logos all over them. (That, and everybody has either a Coach or LV; It's time to spice it up, people!)

But, when one of my parent's friends offered to let me borrow her LV Speedy, I couldn't refuse. It's not my kind of bag, but hey, it's a LV!

For casual Friday, I went with some pastels and white. Honestly, I felt a bit childish in these colors, but I am loving this pleated skirt. Hopefully I can get more wear out of it before Summer ends!

I've been wearing this F21 necklace so much lately since I bought it. It looks so much more expensive than it actually was (Just under $7), and the neutral color goes with everything! Best deal yet. :)

Introducing Shopping Sunday: A Weekly Sale Round up!

I often spend my Sundays browsing the internet and doing some online shopping. Retail therapy is great for curing the end-of-the-weekend blues, but shopping a great sale is even better!

So, similar to what Kelly at Alterations Needed offers at the end of each week, I'll be listing a few great sales for the week every Sunday to brighten up the end of the weekend! :)

Shopping Sunday

Week of July 22-28:

Nordstrom is hosting their annual Anniversary Sale for a limited time (until 8/6), and this does include designer brands!

Old Navy is offering a "surprise" percentage-off deal on their homepage, ending on 7/25. (They've also debuted over 30 new colors of their Rockstar jeans!)

Buy one full-price item and get a second 50% off at Ann Taylor. (Their new wear now-wear later Fall collection just arrived!) Use code ANNBOGO.

All dresses are under $20 and all pants under $15 at Lands' End Canvas (My FAVE store!), plus take an extra 30% off everything with code OCEAN30, pin 5230.

New arrivals at the J. Crew Factory are up to 30% off, plus they're open 24/7 now!

Forever 21 has a BOGO on select sale items, and they're offering quite a selection to choose from!

As a disclosure, clicking and purchasing through these links may yield commissions to longliveclassy.com. These commissions, however, help support the blog!

Have a GREAT week, everyone! :)

Classic Prep

My two favorite words to describe my favorite style: Classic Prep. While this outfit could probably use some more preppiness, (a school boy blazer, perhaps?) it would probably look a little silly in my small town with no fashion sense.

I must belong on the East Coast. (Or do they even dress like this regularly over there?) Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with a classic pleated skirt and an oxford shirt. Oh, and never forget the pearls!

That Dress, Again?

You've seen me wear this dress multiple times on the blog, in similar ways. I just love it-- the color, the shape, the length, everything. But, I honestly can't find anything else in my closet that matches with this green. So far, I've only worn this dress with navy blue and white. I'm totally open to suggestions!

Even though it's about a size too big for me, it's nothing a belt can't fix. Today, I tried to "shake it up" a bit with the usual navy blue, but with beige accessories (with the exception of the bag)! This is also the first time I've worn wedges to work... and I'm in love with the idea. So much more comfy than pumps... just not as classic and sleek!

Mani Monday: Essie Miss Matched

Last Fall, I had written on my wishlist that I wanted to find the perfect "pinky nude polish with lavender tones". Well, it's almost the end of Summer and I believe I've finally found it! :)

This week's perfect manicure-- Essie's Miss Matched. An opaque, creamy nude pink with just a hint of lavender undertones. It really is perfect and timeless.

This is the perfect color for a classic, clean look on your nails. I love bright polishes, but sometimes you just feel like wearing something neutral! And you can't go wrong with neutrals. :)

Enjoy the week :)

I was recently nominated for the Liebster Blogger Award by With Each Passing Day! I don't normally do these, simply because I have no idea what to say about myself, but I figured I'd give it a shot for once and let you guys know a little more about me. :)

Thirty Years Later

Pearls are timeless, and I thoroughly believe they will never, ever go out of style. Just look at these-- my grandmother bought these over 30 years ago and handed them down to me (okay, she let me "borrow" them... She loves her jewelry!). Who would have guessed that her favorite granddaughter would be wearing them thirty years later? :)

Speaking of the classics, you can't go wrong with a classic sheath dress, a cardigan, and pearls either. :)

A Quick Road Trip

What do you wear when you're sight-seeing and doing a lot of walking, but still want to look somewhat chic? This is a question I've asked/researched many times, but nothing came to me. Since starting Long Live Classy, however, I feel as if I'm able to put outfits together more easily and more quickly than before, regardless of occasion. Ah, one of the amazing advantages to fashion blogging! :)

IMG_5796

I wore this outfit on a quick road trip to visit a friend from out of town. Have you ever heard of the historical mining town Bisbee, Arizona? How about Tombstone? Well, I live about 30 minutes away from both, so visiting is nothing special. Just thought you'd like to know that these pics were taken in a new location for once-- Bisbee, AZ!

Mani Monday: Revlon Colorstay in Marmalade

For once, a polish that isn't an Essie! I've always been a coral/pink/red polish lover, but had never tried orange before. Since I had a coupon for $2 off a Revlon polish, I figured I'd try something different! This color was a sweet surprise. :)

This week's mani: Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish in Marmalade!

IMG_5885

This pic was taken shortly after I painted my nails, so it's a bit messy. :)
This color compliments my skin tone so well. I was afraid of such a bold color but it's actually not too bad! It's a fun color for summer, and only $5!

What are your favorite polishes for summer? I'd love some suggestions!

Enjoy the rest of the week, everyone! :)

Anchors Everywhere

Has anyone noticed that J. Crew has anchors all over the place this season? If you search for "anchor" on their website, there's about two pages worth of anchor-y goodness available on all types of clothing!

So obviously, it's no surprise that I'd be taking advantage of this. :)

You can't go wrong for the weekend with trusty Sperry's. They're SO comfy yet still put together!

Shirt: J. Crew Factory (so sad that it's unavailable now!)
Shorts: J. Crew Factory, sz 0
Belt: Target
Shoes: Sperry Topsider Bluefish Two-eye
Bag: Vintage Coach via eBay

I really wish the anchor shirt wasn't heather gray, but I suppose I can't think of any other color the sequin anchor would go with! Also, if you're looking for 3" inseam shorts with a higher rise, definitely try these from J. Crew. Honestly, I have no idea how I wore low-rise short shorts in high school. These are still short, but still classy!

Have a great week, everyone! :)

P. S. Get an extra 30% off J. Crew sale items with code MUSTHAVE. Now's the time to shop!
